Le Case di Micol: A European Project for Remembrance
The European project “Le Case di Micol” has been launched with the support of the CERV Programme – Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (European Remembrance 2023).
CINACT – Acting for Cinema and Television, based at AED Studios in Belgium, participates in this initiative together with an international consortium of cultural and educational organizations from Italy, Poland, Belgium, and the Czech Republic.
The consortium includes partners such as Ferrara La Città del Cinema, the Fondazione per il Centro Studi Città di Orvieto, MEIS – National Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah, the Fondazione Giorgio Bassani, the Institute of Contemporary History, the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore L. Einaudi of Ferrara, the Warszawska Szkoła Filmowa (Warsaw Film School), CINACT – Acting for Cinema and Television in Belgium, and the Prague Film School.
The project officially began with an inaugural meeting in Ferrara, Italy, where representatives of the different partner organizations gathered for two days of discussions and collaboration. The aim of the project is to bring together diverse perspectives and experiences around the history of the Shoah, promoting an active and shared remembrance across Europe.
“Le Case di Micol” seeks not only to remember the tragedies of the Holocaust, but also to reflect on the everyday lives that Jewish families lived before deportation — lives filled with relationships, beauty, culture, and hope. The project aims to restore voice and dignity to these interrupted lives through narratives that promote peace, historical awareness, and humanity.
CINACT – Acting for Cinema and Television plays an important role in the project by contributing to the development of an interactive digital map, which will be created through the research work of students from the participating schools across the different countries. This tool will serve as an educational resource to deepen understanding of the Holocaust, its historical context, and its continuing relevance today.
